I had the receipt and all of the paperwork, but it cost just as much to pay for the labor to have it repaired as it would for a new DVD player. It stopped loading DVDs after just a few uses - the day the 90 day parts & labor warranty expired. I emailed them instead, but not surprisingly, they never emailed me back. DO NOT BUY. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. I called Toshiba to ask if they would cover parts & labor and sat on hold for about half an hour.
Sony products work as advertised unlike Toshiba. I've had similar experiences with other Toshiba products and will never buy anything from them again. After calling Toshiba directly and getting bounced around, I finally gave up, returned the unit and purchased a Sony. One of the units was defective right out of the box and did not take a charge at all. While it was a relatively inexpensive device compared to the Sony, we found out why. We purchased three of these for our children (ages 6-11). The batteries are very poor and do not hold a charge for anywhere near the advertised timeframes. The Sony is far superior in build quality and while $50 more, it was worth every penny.
It will not play discs bought in another region. This player is advertised as "multi system" ie it should play eg NTSC (ie Region1/USA) and Pal (ie Region2/Europe) disks - however multi system to Toshiba means different format disks not multi region disks. Beware.
You will love the picture, resolution, graphics. I should really be as honest as I am particualr about things. Toshiba makes terrific laptops, and well they proved to make a great dvd player too. Thanks to whomever sold me this player it is really great. I am very technical and if an item isn't up to snuff or par I will absolutely return it and return it fast. :) so I have to say that this DVD Player is so outstanding I mean the quality and clarity of this portable device is simply devine.
excellent overall condition cosmetically and functionally.5STARS A++++++++++++++++++++++Excellent. I am NOT an easy sell. Well, as you can see I am writing this review after 30 days so it's doing a good job. It is a High-End Dvd player and did cost quite a bit of money brand new.
It worked well for about 6-8 months - playing approx. Now it has stopped working.
I will avoid small electronics from Toshiba in the future. I am hoping for better results from them as I continue to follow-up.Follow-up.
So far, Toshiba's Customer Service folks have not been too helpful. I trashed the unit and bought a new (non Toshiba) portable DVD player.
We purchased Toshiba SD-P91S DVD player for our 5 year old to watch on driving trips. 40 hours of video.
Toshiba never responded in a useful manner to my multiple emails and phone calls.
